Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. By purchasing from Somerset Shrimp Shack you agree to be bound by them.

1. About us

Somerset Shrimp Shack is a UK-based online retailer specialising in live freshwater shrimp, snails, and aquatic plants. We operate from Somerset, England. By placing an order on this website you are entering into a contract with Somerset Shrimp Shack.

2. Ordering

When you place an order you are making an offer to purchase the goods described. We reserve the right to decline any order, for any reason, and will issue a full refund if we do so.

You will receive an order confirmation email once payment has been processed. This confirmation is not acceptance of your order — acceptance occurs when we dispatch your goods.

You must be at least 18 years of age to place an order, and you must provide accurate delivery information. We are not responsible for failed deliveries caused by incorrect address details.

3. Pricing & payment

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but any change will not affect an order already placed.

Payment is taken securely via Stripe at the time of ordering. We do not store your card details. Accepted payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Apple/Google Pay.

4. Delivery

We dispatch Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays. Please see our Shipping Policy for full details on dispatch days, couriers, and estimated delivery times.

Risk of loss passes to you on delivery. If your parcel is lost in transit, please contact us and we will liaise with the courier on your behalf.

5. Live arrival guarantee

All live livestock is covered by our live arrival guarantee. If animals arrive dead or in poor condition you must contact us within 2 hours of delivery with clear photographic evidence. Please see our Live Arrival Guarantee page for the full terms.

The guarantee does not cover losses arising from the customer not being available to receive the parcel, or from incorrect care after delivery.

6. Returns & refunds

Due to the nature of live livestock we are unable to accept returns of live animals for any reason other than those covered by the live arrival guarantee. Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for full details.

For non-livestock items (dry goods, equipment) you have the right to cancel within 14 days of receipt under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Items must be returned unused and in original packaging at your cost.

7. Consumer rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and any other applicable legislation.

8. Limitation of liability

Our liability to you is limited to the total value of your order. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses arising from the purchase or use of our products, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.

9. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, and design — is the property of Somerset Shrimp Shack or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our prior written consent.

10. Privacy

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. The version in force at the time of your order is the one that applies to that order. We recommend checking this page periodically.
